Books I’ve read

For a while when I was in high school, then again later after I’d left college, I kept a written log of every book I read as a simple journal. Back then I noted the number of pages each book was, but realized at some point that the page count is meaningless. I might read a small book with tiny print and closely set lines right after a book with larger type and a lot of space between each line. Which was longer? I stopped caring. The exercise was supposed to be fun, not a chore. Years pass, and the Internet became a thing. I had a blog back then, one that I posted to on a regular basis. I decided to start up my book list again. That was back in 2005. Turns out, I still enjoy keeping track of what I’ve read. I’ve found that it’s also fun to go back and look at what I read last year, or ten years ago even. With no further ado, here are the books I’ve read since the last time I started keeping track again.

Books read in 2017

I utterly enjoyed my trip through the stars with Ursula K LeGuin. Since then I’ve been reading the books that started the whole Game of Thrones thing. Still haven’t seen the show. We don’t have HBO. Bugger. I wish that either Netflix or Hulu would pick it up. Heh. Probably won’t, will they?

  • Ursula K. LeGuin, the Hainish books, continued
    • The Dispossessed
    • Very Far Away from Anywhere Else—You’re right. This is not in the series. This slight diversion arose when I couldn’t find the next paperback fast enough—Oops.
    • The Word for World is Forest
    • Four Ways to Forgiveness
    • The Telling
  • Night School by Lee Child
  • by George R. R. Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire:
    • Game of Thrones
    • A Clash of Kings
    • A Storm of Swords

Books read in 2015

This list appears rather pathetic. Dismal, really. However, if one considers that the books by Diana Gabaldon are all at least 1100 pages long—a couple actually more than 1400 pages in length—it seems to be a bit more respectable. Also, finally dug through some of the boxes of paperbacks to find old friends. Finally. Yes, three years after moving here most of our paperbacks are still boxed up. We need more shelves. And somewhere to put them.

  • Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
  • The King’s Mistress by Rachel Leigh Smith
  • Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon

Books read in 2005

This is quite the list! I know my face was in a book almost constantly, just ask Dave, but this list of books read is pretty good. It’s fun looking back over it. If I counted right, there are 95 entries here. Some of them are repeats, but I read those books more than once. I figured it was only right to list them every time I read them. Books are listed in the order read.
